Prac 3: Virus Spread Simulation
Prac 3: Virus Spread Simulation
Materials
This Simulation is an online program that has been written to simulate the tracking of the spread of a pathogen through a population of animals. Spread and tracking of the disease is modelled through meetings occurring within the Designated Meeting Room (Zoom meeting for the online Prac).- There will be 3 Simulations
- Each student will represent a Case with a specific Case Number
- Infected Cases are assigned randomly (starting as positive) by the program at the beginning of each Simulation.
- Cases make Contact during each Step of the Simulations. The Contacts have a 100% infectivity if one of them is positive. A Contact is achieved by clicking on a button referencing another student in your Group or your Role Meetings.
- Meetings will be facilitated by each Group having their specific Zoom Breakout Room
- Once a Case is positive it remains positive for the length of thew Simulation.
- Testing is available at only some of the Steps and is limited in number. Testing is undertaken by the SO selecting a test; passing it on to the LO in their Group; the LO then selects who in their Group gets the test. The Test result will be revelaed to the individual Case tested. The test are asssumed to have a specificity and sensitivity of 100%.
Online Results files are provided for recording individual results and Group Contact and Test Result records.
