Introduction

Gross Findings:

Post mortem revealed a large pale liver which broke easily when handled (friable). The gall bladder was distended and bile could not be expressed through the common bile duct into the small intestine. Hard mineral like crystal deposits were found to be blocking the bile duct.

In this picture of a liver with chronic bile duct obstruction, there is thickening of bile ducts and hepatic parenchymal fibrosis.
