Gross Findings:
After your clinical examination you inform the farmer
that you think that the cow has a chronic disease process that is unlikley
to respond to treatment. The farmer gives permission for you to perfom
a field post mortem to see if you can determine a cause of the gradual
weight loss and loss of milk yield. When you cut into the mammary gland
you note that there are numerous multifocal firm, nodules composed of
caseous material with a gritty consistency at their centre, throughout
the mammary gland. You submit some material for culture and some for histopathology.
