Introduction:

The cardiovascular system comprises the heart and the blood vessels. The heart is a pump which moves fluid (blood) throughout a system of channels (blood vessels). Blood carries oxygen and other essential nutrients to the bodies cells. Abnormalities of the cardiovascular system have the potential to impair blood flow to the tissues, which could then have catastrophic consequences for the host.
