Cells are of uniform size and shape, with mitotic figures
rarely seen. There is a fine fibrovascular stroma surrounding nests of
tumour cells. Some cells are forming follicles with pink proteinaceous
material in the centre (arrowheads) (x200)

Follicles contain pink material + low numbers of cells,
which are probably apoptotic tumour cells. (x400)
Pituitary chromophobe adenoma:
This tumour was functional, and therefore produced
ACTH. Prolonged secretion of ACTH caused excessive production of cortisone,
resulting in hyperadrenocorticoidism (Cushings syndrome).
