Elsewhere in the synovium, fibrin coagula (arrowhead)
are focally adherent to the synovial intima.

Note the perivascular oedema (arrowheads) within this
synovial villus. The oedema is referable to increased vascular permeability
caused by the inflammatory process.
What is your morphological diagnosis for the stifle
joint pathology in this pig?
The number of lymphocytes and plasma cells in the synovium
and the extent of the synovial villous hyperplasia are consistent with
chronicity.
Bacteria are not visible microscopically in the synovial section but
the cause of the polyarthritis was haematogenous localisation of E. rhusiopathiae.
Hence, it would be appropriate to add septic
(or infectious or bacterial)
into the above morphological diagnosis.
