Case 1:
History:
A 1 year old male Cavalier King Charles spaniel presented
for investigation of seizure activity of sudden onset 2 days prior to
presentation. Whilst hospitalised, the dog went into a severe and protracted
seizure which could not be medically controlled. The owners elected to
euthanise the dog. No gross cerebral abnormalities were evident at necropsy.
This is a low power view of
the hippocampus. Even at this magnification, oedematous separation
of myelinated axons is apparent in the white matter. Oedema is also
widening the perivascular spaces.
