Case 4:
History:
A 4 year old female spayed Airedale terrier presented
with a 3 week history of progressive neurological signs including conscious
proprioceptive loss in the right limbs, ventromedial strabismus of the
right eye, decreased sensation over the right face, head tilt to the right
and hypermetria. A CT scan revealed a large (3.0 x 1.5 x 2.0 cm) mass
in the left thalamus. The dog was euthanised on suspicion of a primary
inoperable brain neoplasm.
This is a low power view
of the thalamic mass. Many of the highly cellular areas are obviously
centred on blood vessels as perivascular cuffs which are merging
with adjacent cuffs.
