Introduction

Case 5:

History:

A 16 year old, castrated male DSH cat had a sudden onset of visual deficits, behavioural changes and circling to the right. A lesion in the right cerebrum, possibly involving the occipital lobe, was suspected. A CT scan revealed a 2.2 x 1.8 x 2.5 cm extracerebral mass dorsal to the right occipital lobe. The cream-white, circumscribed, multilobulated and firm mass was excised surgically.

At low magnification, the mass appears to be entirely composed of highly cellular sheets of neoplastic cells. In some areas, there are prominent blood vessels. There are also foci of mineral deposition (these were noted on the CT scan).
