Introduction |
Note the oedema of the connective tissues surrounding a large sublobular vein. Venous blood exiting the hepatic sinusoids drains into central veins (= terminal hepatic venules) and thence into sublobular and hepatic veins before emptying into the caudal vena cava to return to the right side of the heart. The connective tissue of portal areas and surrounding
larger efferent veins is the major site to manifest oedema in injured
and inflamed livers.
