Case 5:
History:
Mature, mixed breed male dog
Mass palpated at proximal pole of one testis
Bilateral castration performed
Gross pathology:
White glistening solitary tumour present at one end of the testis
Sheets of large polyhedral
cells, with small foci of lymphocytes (x40)

Histopathology:
Mass of anaplastic, disaggregated round cells
Scattered foci of lymphocytes
Cells have very high nuclear/cytoplasmic ratios
High mitotic rate
Numerous giant cells
Diagnosis:
Seminoma
Comment:
Despite the anaplastic appearance most seminomas are
only locally expansile and behave in a benign fashion.
