Introduction

Some of the glomerular tufts have an immature (foetal) (or S-phase) appearance. These have poorly developed capillary lumina and appear hypercellular, with too many darkly staining nuclei close together.
These glomeruli are inappropriate for the age of the dog.

This is a low power view of the renal corticomedullary junction, with an arcuate artery at the centre of the field. Apart from immediately surrounding the artery, there is far too much dense interstitial fibrous tissue present, especially in the medulla. There are also pockets of non-suppurative (lymphocytic) inflammation in the dense fibrous tissue.
