Introduction

At higher magnification, the mucosa is not only hyperplastic but shows full thickness dysplasia. Full thickness mucosal dysplasia without invasion across the basement membrane is referred to as carcinoma in situ. In multiple places, neoplastic cells have breached the basement membrane and are invading the submucosa. This warrants a diagnosis of invasive transitional cell carcinoma.
