Introduction |
Hyperplasia:Hyperplasia is an increase in tissue mass over an expected normal limit due to an increase in the number of cells. It is attributable to mitotic division of cells. Hyperplasia can be physiological or pathological. Examples of physiological hyperplasia are mammary and endometrial development in pregnancy. Hyperplastic tissue may give rise to neoplasia, e.g. prostatic adenocarcinomas may arise in a gland that has previously undergone hyperplasia. |
