Introduction

Autolysis in Rabbit cadavers

The tissues for examination today have been taken from rabbits which underwent post mortem examination either immediately following euthanasia or after storage at 4 degrees centigrade for 24 hours, freezing or storage at 20 degrees centigrade for 24 hours after euthanasia.
Use these tissues to firstly revise the normal histology of some of the organs fixed immediately after death, especially the intestine, liver, pancreas, thymus, spleen, lung and heart.
Then compare and contrast the histological appearance of these tissues with their counterparts from the specimens stored under the various conditions for 24 hours.
