Veterinary Pathology - Autolysis

Introduction

Room Temperature Storage

Post mortem as carried out on this carcase after strogae at room temperature for 24 hours.

Note the rounded appearance of the abdominal wall and the distended intestinal loops which are visible within. The surface of the tissues glisten much less than in the fresh specimen. Close inspection of the abdominal wall reveals imbibition of pigments which have leaked through the walls of the adjacent abdominal organs.
