Case 4:

Signalment:

Adult mouse

Experimental procedure:

  1. The abdominal skin of four mice was disinfected

  2. A bottle of sterile India ink was well shaken and 0.1 ml if the ink was injected intraperitoneally

  3. Mice were euthanased by gas 24 hours after ip injection

  4. After the cadavers were opened, any non-adherent ink was gently washed from the body with saline

  5. Samples of liver, spleen, diaphragm, omentum, intestine, lymph node, peritoneal wall, lungs and the needle tract through the skin were taken.

Examine the following photomicrographs from the liver of one of these mice and consider how the india ink has ended up where it has.
