Signalment:

10+ year old dairy cow

Clinical Signs:

The cow has been becoming progressively more wasted over time and has had a chronic history of diarrhoea. At post mortem you notice that there is thickening of the intestinal tract, particularly of the ileum. You submit samples of gastrointestinal tract and ileocaecal lymph nodes for histopathology and microbiological culture.
