Colloid goitre:
Colloid goitre = the involutionary stage of diffuse,
hyperplastic goitre in young animals. This condition may develop after
iodine deficiencies have been restored, or the requirements for thyroxine
diminish in an older animal. Restored blood thyroid levels feedback to
the hypothalamus/pituitary, with subsequent decrease in thyrotropin releasing
factor and thyroid stimulating hormone respectively.
