Nonsuppurative (lymphocytic)
perivascular cuffing and gliosis are more prominent in the spinal
grey matter than in the white matter. At least some of the glial
nodules in the grey matter represent neuronophagic nodules centred
on neurons that have died as a consequence of intracytoplasmic replication
of protozoal tachyzoites.
