Introduction

All the cells and tissues of the body have explicit requirements for continuous vascular perfusion and for fluid homeostasis. A wide variety of disturbances of the vascular system can result in impairment of the blood supply or blood drainage or of fluid homeostasis, with potentially severe consequences for the tissues affected by the disturbance. In this class we will consider the following circulatory disorders: thrombosis, embolism, infarction, haemorrhage and disorders of haemostasis.
