Introduction

Case 2:

Haematoxylin & Eosin (x400)

Click here to see a comparison between the pancreas from case 2 and a normal pancreas.

Histologic examination of the pancreas revealed normal islets of Langerhans which were more prominent than usual due to atrophy of the exocrine parenchyma and condensation of the pancreatic stroma and exocrine ducts . The exocrine acinar cells were depleted of zymogen granules and appeared shrunken, basophilic and dissociated with loss of the normal polarity around central lumina.
