Introduction

Omentum:

Tumour is composed of thin cords and small aggregates of epithelial cells. There is a moderate amount of fibrous tissue in between tumour cells. (x200)

Peritoneal carcinomatosis:

Many different types of carcinoma can transplant over the peritoneal and omental membranes as modes of metastasis, including prostatic, bile duct, hepatocellular, ovarian and pancreatic carcinomas.
This neoplasm is a metastatic prostatic carcinoma. Prostatic carcinomas are uncommon in dogs and when they do occur, they affect dogs 10 years and over. Enlargement of the prostate is typically asymmetric, as opposed to benign prostatic hyperplasia (a very common condition in dogs) which is symmetrical.
