Introduction

Round Cell Tumours:

Aspiration of round cell tumours usually yields numerous discrete, round cells with distinct cytoplasmic margins. Round cell tumours include mast cell tumours, histiocytomas, lymphomas, plasmacytomas and multiple myelomas (both being neoplasms of B cells), and transmissible venereal tumours. Sometimes, malignant melanomas and basal cell tumours may also exfoliate cells as discrete round cells. Cytoplasmic granules are diagnostic clues to the cell of origin in mast cell tumours, melanomas and large cell granular lymphomas.
