Exercise 3

Preparation Of The Patient And The Surgeon 2

Introduction

Welcome to Surgery Exercise 3.
This exercise will take the form of you demonstrating to staff of the Surgery Section yuor knowledge and skills in preaparing yuorself and your patient for surgery as well as your suture technique.
Although animals are not used in this class, each and every student must demonstrate the correct 'asceptic procedures'.  Each student will be expected to show competency in the techniques demonstrated in Exercise 1.
Success in this will contribute to your skills aquisition check-list which has to be completed as part of this course.

All skills learned in this class will be used in exercise 4, further practical classes in 3rd year of the course and during your clinical rotations prior to entering veterinary practice. Failure to maintain asceptic technique, particularly in clinical rotations will not be tolerated, and the student may be directed to review this part of the course.
